Our admissions decision process (notoriously) takes a very, very long time. This is because the process is split up into 7 stages, as follows:
STAGE 1 |
All the entries are read thoroughly by our admins and part-time admins (who are only active during admission and contest judging). There were over 3000 entries in Generation 3.
|
STAGE 2
|
Any entries with high potential are shortlisted by our admins. From here, we select the honorable mentions, using the TOCK criteria:
|
STAGE 3 |
The members shortlist their top favourite 10-20 entries out of all entries. One member can nominate any artist's entry once. We then tally each of the results; the entry with the top number of nominations immediately pass through to the Inner Court. Other high scoring entries pass on to Stage 4.
Admins cannot vote in Stage 3. |
STAGE 4 |
With the remaining shortlisted entries, we select the top 16 and allocate each one a letter, from A to P. In the Inner Court, we let each member rank their top five out of 16 entries in order of most to least favourite. Using Borda count (and a spreadsheet programmed by our systems admin), each entry is given a Raw Score. This Raw Score can be anywhere from 1 to 100, depending on the number of votes from each member.
|
STAGE 5 |
The validity of these entries is thoroughly reviewed.
|
STAGE 6 |
The entries are then given a Final Score, which consists of the Raw Score + TOCK score - Validity Deductions. They are then ranked from highest to lowest based on their Final Score.
The remaining members of Gen 3 are then selected so that there are 12 members in total. |
STAGE 7 |
Should a tie occur between two last-slot members, a special voting round will open in the Inner Court. Here, the members select either A or B. The majority vote then passes.
